“The provision of an online service for careers information, advice and guidance is an essential tool for today's Internet-literate students. An online facility enables students to plan their career within and outside the school environment, empowering them to make a CHOICE on their future, both in a supported and unsupported mode.

Additionally, having all the schools curriculum data on the Internet provides an easy single point of entry and data readily available for students, parents and carers. The college effort in updating the curriculum data is minimised, thus enabling resources to be focused on delivering the educational needs as well as presenting a view on curriculum and career opportunities to the school community.

The delivery in June 2008 of an Individual Learning Planner and supporting tools and guides will provide real added value to the individual students and the school’s career guidance activities”

Dave Parker – Deputy Head - Rooks Heath College

Choice will help your students make a successful transition into post 16 education or training. It will provide a key (and free) CEG tool for your careers education work, making life easier for your staff and streamlining your tutorial work. It wil also be valuable for your parents. For schools with 6th forms, it is a valuable marketing tool, and will help you to manage your progression targets.

For schools operating in consortia or offering linked courses with colleges it offers a convenient and attractive way for young people to see the whole range of options available

Using Choice will ensure that Schools meet their statutory obligations with regard to the September Guarantee, progression targets  and general support and guidance of young people within the requirements of the Ofsted framework

Your Connexions PA is the primary Choice interface with school pupils, whereas your borough14-19 co-ordinator is responsible for working with you to ensure your that curriculum information is up-to-date and you have all the materials and support you need for careers advisors and year heads.
