The Department has said that this is the expected next step for Choice and our London vision states that we want to make the site transactional by 2010. Also PAs and young people have asked when on site, “Can I apply direct?” and the answer, “Contact the provider” always seems disappointing. In London you can apply online to secondary schools at primary/secondary transfer and nationally you apply to HE online via UCAS so what about 16+? However, no one underestimates the challenges involved in developing a CAP. We need to share local experiences. Any local paper-based systems that are common across a group of schools/colleges etc? Any local clearing houses operating? Who will need most convincing?

Choice already provides functions that will accommodate the new Diplomas (see the drop down qualifications list on the Advanced search and provider input tool) and when the QAN is added to all qualifications by April 2008 we will be able to ensure that all the constituent parts of any diploma are automatically linked By June 2008 we will have individual learning plans and a career planners which can further support Diplomas and we have offered to support up to six Diploma consortia in a prototype common application process. What more is needed to support diplomas? Should we give Diplomas a special marketing boost as a new qualification? Should we give Diploma consortia admin access at the back end to alter data?
